The micro bloging platform Twitter has created a media storm recently with a glut of celebrities discussing Twitter on their blogs , and marketing experts telling us we can use Twitter to hundreds of fans , the interest in Twitter is at a record peak . You most likely know people on Twitter and your major suppliers have probably asked you to be their Twitter fan . That brings us neatly to my point . What are YOU doing about it for yourself?

A lot of people, actually I think most, don’t even “get” Twitter. And that’s partly because it can be many different things to almost as many people. And to some extent, they may even be all true, at least to that person.

But however you approach your Twitter strategy and there’s a great FREE training video about that at http://www.TrafficHug.com/twittervideo/ but whatever you do, you should be doing something. Even at a minimum you have one more point of contact via Twitter , ideally with some way of people finding you by your keyword, or your name. It could be embarrassing if people search for you and your competitor , or a cyber squatter, has beaten you to your own profile.

We have other articles on getting targeted traffic, but let’s look at something we can do in ten minutes We’ll take a more detailed look at finding fans but first let’s explore a quick and easy option.

Many people perceive Twitter traffic as an internal channel of Twitter itself . A concept most Twitter directories also foster. But with Twitter , the advantages of having your regular traffic join you on Twitter are many fold. So beneficial that we need to start integrating immediately .

One thing we can do almost immediately is to add a Twitter “badge” to your existing web entities . A badge is just an image stating who you are on Twitter with an active link to your Twitter identity. In the videos I mentioned earlier , there’s more advanced material , but the badge will get our toe in the water for today .

You simply paste the HTML code it provides in to your website, store, or blog and your customised graphic with active link, will magically appear .

The Badge is provided in its own little HTML DIV tag so should exist happily almost anywhere.

If you create a table or div tag to position it in , then you can just paste the code in in that place . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Adobe Dreamweaver users can just insert an AP Layer (from the insert menu) and then paste the code in to that using the HTML code view pane.
